Step 3:  Complete the Required Application Forms

Nonimmigrant Visa Services

Did you know that applicants who complete their application forms electronically at http://evisaforms.state.gov can both schedule preferential appointments and reduce their wait time by two hours or more on the day of their scheduled interviews? Electronically completed application forms allow us to avoid having to manually enter your personal data into our system on the day of your appointment, thereby allowing the consular officer to interview you more quickly.

In order to enjoy the benefits that completing your application electronically can provide, please make sure to print all three pages of the DS-156 application (including the page on which the bar code is printed) and bring these with you to the Consular Section on the day of your appointment. We are excited at the potential of this technology to improve the visa application experience for everyone.

Please note that the information on the forms cannot be submitted through the internet. You must complete all of the following forms that are relevant to your circumstances, and bring them with you to the Consular Section on the day of your interview. Form DS-156:

 
 

All nonimmigrant visa applicants are required to complete this form.

Form DS-157:

 
 

Only male applicants between the ages of 16 and 45 are required to complete this form.

Form DS-158:

 

 

Only applicants for F (student), J (cultural exchange), and M (vocational student) visas (and their dependants) are required to complete this form.
