Ask the Consul
Where can I find precise information regarding the Nonimmigrant
Visa Application?
We would like to remind readers where to find accurate
information about nonimmigrant visas, including how to apply for visas, helpful
tips on what to bring, and where to find the required forms.
If you wish to obtain visa information via the telephone
from the Dominican Republic you can go to any Banco Popular branch and pay for a
Personal Identification Number (PIN)—payment is only acceptable in cash. After
obtaining your PIN, you can call the “Centro de Información de Visas” at
1-809-200-3232. If you are calling from the United States, simply dial
1-877-804-5402, and this phone call can be charged to any major credit card.
For those who have access to the Internet, you can access
free information from our website at
www.usemb.gov.do/Consular/niv-e.htm. There is a wealth of information
available, and we update the website frequently. There are many useful items on
the site, including information regarding increased application fees for visas,
ten fingerprint requirements from certain visa applicants, and step-by-step
instructions that will guide you through the visa application process. These
instructions include links that provide more specific details and answers to
some commonly asked questions. You can also download and complete the visa
application forms directly from the website. If you do not have access to a
computer, please contact our “Centro de Información de Visas”.
We encourage all
applicants to gather as much information about the visa application process
prior to the day of their appointment to ensure they are prepared for their
interview.. |
